ABOUT ME
I am an educator, researcher and writer with a career spanning classroom teaching, educational leadership, international education and academic research.
My educational journey continues to evolve, with a consistent focus on how we can create meaningful, inclusive and inspiring learning experiences for children.
As a former Deputy Headteacher, I have led across teaching and learning, curriculum, assessment, inclusion, wellbeing, safeguarding and whole-school improvement. My experience in international education has given me a broad perspective on different educational contexts and strengthened my belief in the importance of high expectations, belonging and responsive teaching.
Alongside my professional career, I completed a PhD in English Literature, researching the environmental emergency and the ‘greening’ of Ted Hughes’s writing for children. My research brings together children’s literature, nature, environmental education and wellbeing — areas that continue to shape my work today.
I am also a writer and contributor to educational and literary publications, exploring themes including primary English, children’s literature, wellbeing, nature, sustainability and ecopedagogy.
I am particularly interested in the relationship between education and the natural world, and in how schools can nurture children who are curious, confident, creative and emotionally connected to the world around them.
My work sits at the intersection of education, research and writing, and I am increasingly interested in contributing to wider conversations about curriculum, pedagogy and the future of primary education.
At the heart of everything I do is a belief that words can inspire change and hope for the future.
